How to Make NYC Christmas Cookies
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to180°C(160C fan) (350°F).
Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This helps create that soft, gooey texture.
Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients
Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Step 4: Add the Dry Ingredients
Add in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold these in until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can affect the cookie texture.
Step 5: Add the Festive Mix-Ins
Gently fold in the white chocolate chips, red & green M&M’s, and festive sprinkles.
Step 6: Shape the Cookies
Divide the dough into 10 large balls (about 90g or 3.5 oz each for NYC-style cookies) and place them onto the prepared baking trays, leaving a few inches between each one so they have room to spread.
Step 7: Bake to Perfection
Bake in the preheated oven for10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft. The cookies will continue to set as they cool.
Step 8: Cool and decorate
Let the cookies cool on the tray for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Drizzle them with some melted white chocolate, top with festive sprinkles and dig in!
