Manifest Season 4, Part 1 Ending Explained In Full (2025)

Warning: Spoilers for Manifest season 4 part 1

Manifest season 4 part 1’s ending has game-changing implications for the series and its final ten episodes. Though Ben and the others had succeeded in getting Eden away from Angelina, Holly Taylor’s character has continued to stick around as a threat. Her attack on Eagan and the theft of the Omega Sapphire set up an intense conflict with the rogue Flight 828 passenger in the Manifest season 4 part 1 finale.

Over the course of the final season’s first nine episodes, Manifest delivered breakthrough after breakthrough for the main characters. Slowly but surely, the passengers have uncovered a slew of secrets about the Callings, where they come from, what really happened to the plane, and what they’re supposed to do. At last, they finally know what their endgame is in the series. But while the Death Date is most assuredly the biggest problem facing the characters, it wasn’t the focus of the finale. But even though the fight with Angelina pales in comparison to the scale of the Death Date, it still has important repercussions for the core cast. Here’s what happened in the Manifest season 4, episode 10, titled “Inversion Illusion”, and what it means for the show’s future.

Manifest's Passengers Can Create Their Own Callings: Plot Twist Explained

One of the finale’s most shocking moments was the Calling that saw the return of Athena Karkanis as Grace. However, the whole scene turned out to be a lie. As it turns out, Angelina created “Grace” using the powers of the Omega Sapphire. She did a similar trick on Michaela using a vision of Evie, who died before the timeframe of the series. Apparently, the Omega Sapphire is so powerful that it can be used to create Callings. And as Vance and Saanvi discussed in the episode, that’s a terrible turn of events for the passengers because as long as someone has an Omega Sapphire, the passengers can’t trust their own Callings. What Angelina was able to accomplish with it was foreshadowed before the finale when Olive was talking about the “untold powers” the Omega Sapphire granted the Oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece.

What Happened To Angelina When She Touched The Omega Sapphire Shard?

Angelina’s confrontation with Ty Doran's Cal Stone destroyed the Omega Sapphire, but one of its shards survived its destruction. Touching it burned her hand, but exactly what happened in this scene was left unclear. From the looks of things, Angelina’s hand absorbed the sole remaining piece of the Omega Sapphire. If that’s true, she could continue to wield its power in Manifest season 4 part 2. Unfortunately, Angelina having the last piece as a part of her means that not only does she still have its powers, but the passengers no longer have anything to gain from beating her. It would seem that their chances of acquiring the Omega Sapphire have gone up in smoke.

Is Cal Really Going To Save The World?

The Omega Sapphire is gone, but the passengers still have one last card to play. Their investigation into the history of the Callings yielded yet another major discovery. Building on earlier comments that referred to Cal as “The Dragon”, Olive and TJ realized that Cal is their best chance at stopping the Death Date. Linking a constellation of a dragon and the Egyptian mural found in the temple led the two to the assertion that Cal is the Dragon who “can tip the scales” by being touched by the Omega Sapphire. Exactly how Cal is supposed to save the world remains to be seen, but this reveal can at least serve as the foundation of their plan in Manifest season 4 part 2.

What Zeke's Death Means For Manifest (Could He Still Be Alive?)

Manifest Season 4, Part 1 Ending Explained In Full (4)

Several factors played into Zeke’s huge decision in the finale. Knowing that he returned in Manifest season 1 for a special reason, overhearing TJ and Olive’s talk about Cal’s importance, and his own love for Cal, all helped set Zeke’s ultimate sacrifice in motion. Having used his powers to soak up Cal’s cancer, Matt Long’s character seemingly met his end in the episode’s final moments. But since the finale ended almost immediately after Zeke’s “death”, it’s not outright confirmed within the story if Zeke is dead or not, although that was the impression provided by the scene. Regardless, Zeke’s heroic move can be what makes stopping the apocalypse possible since Cal is considered the key to what comes next.

Why Dr. Gupta Betrays Saanvi & Vance In Manifest Season 4, Part 1's Ending

Another of the finale’s big twists came in the form of Dr. Gupta. Gupta’s story started with her character filling an almost antagonistic role, as her viewpoints caused frequent clashes with Saanvi at the Eureka facility. But over time, Dr. Gupta developed real sympathy for the passengers’ plight and used her scientific expertise to advance their research into the tailfin and the Callings. When she returned to the fold in Manifest season 4, Saanvi was disappointed to learn that Gupta had worked with the Major in the past, but even so, there was a sense that she was still on the passengers’ side. But then, the finale’s ending revealed that in spite of Dr. Gupta’s evolution as a character in season 3, she chose to align with the government as a direct consequence of Manifest season 3’s ending.

As she said to Saanvi in the episode, her decision was motivated by Saanvi returning the tailfin to its proper place. Unbeknownst to the Flight 828 passengers at the time, Dr. Gupta’s loyalties secretly shifted when Saanvi disregarded the former’s advice and got rid of their biggest connection to the Callings. And as a result of her questionable choice, Saanvi and Vance’s secret base has fallen into the government’s hands, which will make any effort for the two to contribute in Manifest season 4 part 2 incredibly challenging.

The events of the Manifest season 4 part 1 finale go a long way toward setting up the second half of the season and the passengers’ final hurdle. As noted above, they don’t have an obvious way of saving the world, but in Cal, they do have a way forward. They also have a clear enemy: Holly Taylor’s Angelina survived the finale and currently possesses the Omega Sapphire shard. The character citing Biblical scripture while walking through the city amid all the volcanic destruction around her is a testament to just how dangerous and unhinged she’s become. If she can cause all of that harm with the Omega Sapphire, she might be able to bring about the apocalypse early – unless she’s the one who ultimately causes it anyway. With or without Zeke, the Flight 828 passengers will have to forge ahead, solve the show’s remaining mysteries, and remove Angelina from the board.
