How strict is Iberia with personal items size? ›

What can I carry as hand luggage? All our fares allow you to take one cabin bag and one personal accessory as hand luggage: The Cabin bag must be no bigger than 56 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm and, in Economy and Premium Economy, it must weigh no more than 10 kg.

Small cabin baggage usually has the following dimensions: H45cm W36cm D20cm. This size would be suitable for airlines like Easyjet and Ryanair. Large cabin baggage usually have the following dimensions: H56cm W45cm D25cm. This would be suitable for airlines like British Airways and Jet2.

Maximum size: 56 cm x 40 cm x 25 cm . . Maximum weight in Economy 10 Kilos and in Business 14 kilos. Handle, pocket compartments and wheels included in the dimensions.

Carry-on bags shouldn't be larger than 22 inches long, 14 inches wide and 9 inches high including handles and wheels.

Personal items

These items must fit under the seat in front of you, so they must be 9 in x 10 in x 17 in (22 cm x 25 cm x 43 cm). Common things include purses, backpacks and laptop bags. If you're at the airport and not sure if your bag is the right size, you can use our bag sizers to measure your bag.

Personal items are free of charge, and any free luggage is a bonus, but you need to consider size restrictions when shopping for this bag. Typically, your personal item must fit under the seat in front of you and measure no more than 18 x 14 x 8 inches, although this varies by airline.

Items that do not fit into the sizing device at the airport or exceed the carry-on allowance will be placed in checked baggage for a fee. Your carry-on must fit in the overhead bin and personal items need to fit under the seat in front of you.

While most airlines require around 16 x 14 x 9 inches for an item stowed under the seat, it can be tough to know which bag will fit the airline's requirements and have all the elements you need.

If your cabin bag is bigger than the maximum size allowed or if you bring a large cabin bag to the departure gate without the correct seat selection or without one pre-booked for your flight, it won't be able to go in the cabin. We'll have to check it into the aircraft hold and charges will apply.
